Life is short.
Even if given 120 years on Earth-when you reach that year-it may still feel like it all went by so fast.
What matters most when 120, 99, 89, or sadly even fewer years go by before we pass?
Will how much money you have at that point matter most?
Will your job titles matter most?
Will how many cars, houses, and boats you own matter most?
Will how many vacations you took during your life on Earth matter most?
Will how many children or grandchildren you have matter most?
Will the way you lived and how you chose to interact with other human beings matter to you in that last year of your life?
Will the legacy: the memories those around you have of you after you pass from the Earth be of integrity, honesty, love, and commitment?
Is this your greatest desire in life?
Why wouldn’t it be? Right?
Do we as humans live in perfect integrity, honesty, love, and commitment all the days of our lives?
If we are honest at this moment: the answer is a resounding NO for all of us humans: we do not live even a day on this planet with even an ounce of perfection.
No: not us: but there is One who did and his sacrifice on the cross is what makes it possible to change our flesh-serving ways: our pride-of-life, dishonesty, hatred, laziness, gluttony, greed, and every other sin of the flesh.
Only through God’s mercy and grace through his son Jesus Christ do we have the ability and strength to live our lives free from the bondage of our sinful flesh.
Only through God’s mercy and grace through his son Jesus Christ do we have the ability and strength to deny our flesh and live in the Spirit which is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Thank you God for giving us your Son-that we might have eternal life with you and life abundant now-living in your Holy Spirit here on Earth.
